Andy's diverse musical experiences bring a unique style and
expressive feeling to his musical compositions. Influences of
jazz, latin, folk, rock, gospel, blues and country are evidenced
in his work along with a sometimes quizzical flair to 'tie it
all together'. His lyrics run the gamut from sensitive love
ballad to intense and angular commentary on mental illness and
criminal behavior. Supported by his fellow musicians, songwriters
and a small cache of daring and trustworthy listeners, Andy
takes great solace in knowing his songs are not copies or "knock-offs"
of popular music. "What is original music", he muses,
"if not original?"
Andy has enjoyed work in the arts as theatrical musical director,
music educator, arranger, accompanist and, naturally, a performer.
You may catch him entertaining as a vocalist, playing keyboards,
guitar, bass and/or percussion. Along with his popular songwriting,
he has created musical scores for an Off-Broadway production,
various theater and dance projects, as well as, experimental
theater. As part of a team or solo, he has scored and produced
music and voice talent for radio and television, as well as,
successful commercial and industrial video productions.
As a performer, Andy has worked extensively in the New York
Tri-state area at various musical and performance venues and
is as at home working the intimate jazz trio format as he is
performing with high-energy bands. Recently, he has been featured
with the band "Notes to Myself" performing his original
music for New Jersey Shore audiences. His activities with the
website http://www.songwritersblock.com keep him in touch with
other songwriters, performers and listeners.
Though Andy's attempts to change the world one musical note
at time are currently failing, he hopes one day to spark a movement
that will be as economically rewarding as it is enjoyable to
musicians around the world. Hey, it could happen!
